HP value and great Guts ! May 1, 2010 A. Bingham (lymington, hants,UK) 20 out of 20 found this review helpful
I spent lots of time reviewing the PC options of cost against content, and that includes Apple imac, this HP unit delivers the works and the AMD Athlon quad 630 is fast and very cool!Thank you Amazon for the usual and by now expected excellent service. I have linked the HP PC to an equally great value screen from LG ( via Amazon of course ), the W2361V Life's Good !! Tony.B
Excelent value July 8, 2010 W. Black (Scarborough UK) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I spent some time looking at a suitable replacement PC for my old one which had a dying mother board.
I decided on this because it seemed cheap but by a 'quality' maker.
Amazon are about £50 cheaper than everyone else on this computer which fit my requirements almost exactly.
I have had this for about two days now.
Windows 7 seems to be the usual MS rubbish so, after burning a couple of recovery disks, on went Ubuntu 10.04 with absolutely no problems at all.
The whole thing looks good, is very quiet after it gets going, has excellent graphics, decent sound and even has an HP Pocket Media slot on the front for an external drive.
Only four stars because the audio sockets are too close together for plastic plugs to go in without a squeeze...
Everything I needed August 13, 2010 PJ Rankine (Wallington, Surrey United Kingdom) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I haven't bought a pc since I bought my first Packard Bell with 2mb of ram and a 20mb hard drive because I have since built and upgraded my own and my sons'. This time realising my trusty machine needed upgrading I discovered that it is no longer cost effective to build your own especially when Windows 7 cost eighty quid on its own. I use mine for browing the net, storing and editing photographs, home accounting and playing music. This machine fits the bill perfectly, the quad core processor lets me browse the net and listen to iTunes without loss of performance and obviously the 4GB of ram helps. The fan is much quieter than my old pc and the case is smaller so it fits neatly into the same spot however I keep mine on the floor to the right of the footwell on my desk so it is difficult to get to the eject bottom for the dvd drive as HP have put it on the right edge set back from the facia. Apart from that I have no complaints at all. Although my network is hard wired I was impressed with the wireless antenna which in my house boosted the wireless signal from 1 to 5 bars. This machine ships with a wireless mouse and keyboard combination which works from a small wireless dongle. I already have a Microsoft wireless mouse and this is a much neater option but I'm still not sure about the keyboard. Yes its good to have no wires hanging off the back but I find the keys too close together and I have small hands. My wife thinks its very smart being black but I suspect my Microsoft ergonomic keyboard will be making a re-appearance soon. Overall this is a very nice computer that fulfils all my home computing needs.
Superb April 25, 2010 Mr. W. G. Eatock (UK) 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
A fantastic product. Only thing that lets it down is the lack of good pre-loaded software. Otherwise, a computer definitely worth purchasing.
Well specced PC August 23, 2010 pbg Received the computer the day after ordering. It was small, well packed and quick to setup. Windows 7 was fine - easy to setup apart from some network sharing options. Unfortunately it had Norton pre-installed and it took a few reboots to finally get rid of it.
The machine is very quick (esp. compared to a Pentium 4 - down from 3 hours to rip and convert a DVD to 45 mins). It runs almost silently, only getting a bit noisy when running at full tilt for over an hour. The mouse and keyboard are nice, although the keyboard has less travel than I like. The mouse is nice, and it has an off swicth to save the batteries. Definitely recommended, especially at the reduced price.
